CEO

I had the pleasure of working with Oleksander (Alex) Myronchuk on a large-scale project involving the modeling of a factory in Autodesk Revit using a point cloud. The project was exceptionally complex and required a high level of detail, achieving an impressive Level of Detail (LOD) 300.

Despite the significant challenges and volume of work, Oleksander delivered outstanding results within the deadline. His ability to address feedback constructively and implement revisions seamlessly was equally commendable.

I was thoroughly impressed with his professionalism, technical expertise, and dedication to quality. I highly recommend Oleksander for any similar projects and look forward to collaborating with him again in the future.

Useful to know or Frequently Asked Questions:

What is BIM?

Building Information Modeling (BIM) serves as a digital portrayal capturing both the physical and functional attributes of a structure. It facilitates informed decision-making across the entire lifespan of a facility, spanning from inception to demolition.

At its core, BIM fosters collaboration among diverse stakeholders throughout various stages of a facility's lifecycle, enabling the seamless exchange, updating, and modification of data to align with each stakeholder's role.

In practice, BIM embodies multiple facets depending on one's viewpoint:

For projects, BIM streamlines information management, ensuring pertinent data is accessible to all involved parties precisely when needed.

To project participants, BIM embodies an interoperable framework for project delivery, delineating how individual teams operate and collaborate to conceptualize, design, construct, and manage a facility.

For design teams, BIM embodies integrated design principles, harnessing technology to enhance creativity, foster feedback loops, and empower collaborative efforts.

Why does my company need BIM?

The list of subcontractors already using BIM is growing every day, but most are utilizing BIM partially. The list of partial BIM applications seems almost endless. For those who are just starting, the following list presents some of the most common applications of BIM:

  • Visualization
  • Quantity takeoff
  • Partial coordination
  • Clash detection/avoidance
  • Design checking
  • Construction sequencing planning/Staging plans/Logistics
  • Marketing presentations
  • Parameter analysis
  • Walkthroughs and flythroughs
  • Virtual models
What are the benefits of implementing BIM?

Those who use BIM will almost universally tell you that the number of new benefits they continue to discover seems endless. Here are a few:

  • Aid in defining scope during tendering and procurement, creating cost estimation
  • Coordination of construction sequencing
  • Demonstration of design approaches during marketing presentations
  • Ability to identify clashes (e.g., identifying ductwork conflicting with structural elements)
  • Ability to visualize what is to be built in a modeled environment
  • Fewer errors and rework on-site
  • Ability to explore more "what-if" scenarios, such as considering different sequencing options, site logistics, lift alternatives, cost, etc.
  • Ability for non-technical individuals (clients, users, etc.) to visualize the end product
What type of software might I need for BIM?

Keep in mind that each firm doesn’t need each of these software types:

  • For creating and manipulating models (i.e. Autodesk Revit )
  • Point cloud (i.e. Autodesk ReCap)
  • Central construction cloud (i.e. BIM360)
  • Coordination software (i.e. Navisworks )
  • Estimating software
  • Middleware (i.e. Procore, BIM Track, Revizto, Bluebeam)
What do LOD and LOI mean in terms of BIM?

Interest in BIM has produced several new concepts which often originate from the USA. The most frequently used include:

LOD: Level of Development
This describes the various development levels of a project, from LOD100 to LOD500 (there is a link with the level of detail originally from the world of gaming). The higher the LOD, the more details there are.

LOI: "Level of Information." It defines the level of detail and accuracy of information required for each element or component of a building model at various stages of a project.
